Day 1 – Sardara: pick up your car at Cagliari airport and drive 50min. towards Sardara. Accommodation at the Sardegna Termale Hotel. Time at leisure for a relaxing bath in the thermal pools. Dinner at the Hotel.
Day 2 – Guspini Montevecchio Mine and Piscinas Dunes: Breakfast at the Hotel. Morning dedicated to the visit of the Montevecchio Mines in Guspini. Sardinia was known for its mineral sources since 200 years BC, raising to industrial levels during mid 19th century since to the last century. The several mine sites in the Mountain area in South-West Sardinia have been converted in mining archaeology preserving this important cultural, architectural and industrial heritage from deterioration and lost, at about 10 km uphill from Guspini extends the mining area of Montevecchio, testimony of the important mining activity carried out from 1848 until 1991. Once in the village of Gennas, better known as Montevecchio and surrounded by wood, you find yourself in front of the numerous service buildings (from schools to the hospital), among which stands the Management building. The building, completed in May 1878, housed the general manager's family lodgings and has undergone several conservative restoration.
The small palace, richly furnished, is a magnificent instance of upper-class mansion of 1800 and is rich in Art-Nouveau frescoes. Particularly interesting are the decorations of the Blue Hall, a wide room with pavilion vault, entirely frescoed with floral motifs, feminine figures and birds.
A must see is Piscinas a place of rare beauty not far from Guspini, up to 60m high golden sand dunes shaped by the Maestrale wind facing the sea. Dinner and overnight in Sardara.
Day 3 – Tuili, The Giara, Barumini and Sanluri: Breakfast at the Hotel. The short drive brings you today to the Marmilla region with it’s archaeological and natural treasures. In the morning after meeting the guide you will enjoy a nature walk through the basaltic highlands of the ‘’Giara’’ where the last specimen of wild horses live undisturbed in the woods, ending with a rich snack of sardinian local products and wine. Before living the area a short break for a photo shoot of the lovely ancient village of Tuili, Let you surprise by the well-kept historical centre with the St. Peter’s Church from the 15th century. From the top of the highlands you surely spotted the archaeological complex of the ‘’Nuraghe of Barumini’’, which is your next visit after a short drive. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is the most impressive and well preserved inheritance left by the Nuragic civilization. Guided visits are available all the year through. On the way back to the Hotel in Sanluri, we suggest the visit of the castle of Eleonora, the manor house, hosting today an important museum dedicated to the Risorgimento wars and the ceroplastics, is in a perfect state of preservation: the courtyard, is full of charm and elegance, and by candlelight, of magic. Dinner and overnight in Sardara at the Hotel.
Day 4 – Vineyards and Wine tasting: Breakfast and lunch at the Hotel. The morning is dedicated to the enjoyment of the resort and its thermal pools. After lunch the drive brings you back across the rolling hills of the Marmilla to the Trexenta and Sarcidano region for the visit of the ancient village of Gergei, famous for its excellent olive oil. The typical stone houses characterize its charming historical centre. But not only olive oil, but also excellent wines. This will be your next visit. The vineyard in the hearth of the most authentic island, is the first BioIntegrale winery as an example of ethical agriculture for an environmental protection. To follow the guided tour of the Estate, a wine tasting with typical local products. Dinner and overnight in Sardara.
Day 5 – Cagliari: Your trip could not end without visiting the capital of the Island, the city of Cagliari. Departure with your car the early morning, once you will reach Cagliari your will meet your private guide who will lead you through the beauties and history of the main town. Cagliari boasts its origins to 6000-3000 b.C. overcoming several colonizations until 1794, which have left precious evidence of their time. The afternoon is at your leisure for own exploration of the city or for a stroll at the city beach Poetto. Dinner and overnight in Sardara.
Day 6 – Departure: Breakfast at the Hotel. According to your departure time, drive to the airport and drop off your car.
